J Steel was selected based on technical capability, financial capability, management systems/skills, experience, safety, capacity to meet contractual dates and price. J Steel was responsible for the total supply chain. This involved the procurement and logistics of delivering the rail from the factory to “just in time”, to the required site along the new rail line.
J Steel provided a nonstandard length of rail allowing for the most economical handling and logistics. Additionally, the final agreed length reduced welding requirements for NRT on site. The rails were supplied on time with a flexible delivery schedule to assist NRT with their construction program. J Steel was able to provide a low-risk high-value solution.
